Art On - Vol. 3 with Colin Thompson

Colin Thompson has worn many hats, over many years in many countries, but currently calls the Land Down Under home where he creates his illustrations. Colin is also an accomplished author responsible for penning over 40 children's books in his life time, and countless illustrations to accompany them. Music castle has been part of the GelaSkins repertoire for quite some time, and his more recent offering Steampunk, has been gathering some attention in the media recently. I steered Colin away from his hectic schedule for  few minutes to ask him some questions for Art On....

GS: Having lived in Great Britain, Spain, and Australia, which location/culture has had the most influence on your body of work?

Books

CT: I was going to say planet Earth, but then I remember I've written 2 sci-fi novels so the answer is - the galaxy - the one inside my head - ie ideas come from anywhere and everywhere.

Who exactly was running these laboratories? What kind of tests were they adminstering?

"Ok patient 957, do you feel like you fit in better with your peers now that you've tried this refreshing beverage?"

"Yes, Doctor! I feel positively exuberant! Cola has given the right boost I need to be a better looking, more productive member of society that's capable of becoming, of becoming, why I could be President someday I bet, dag nabit!"

Guinness agrees PS3 is (anti) Illin'

Guinness World Records has acknowledged that a network comprised of the gaming console made by Sony, namely the PlayStation 3 is the most powerful in the world. Known as folding@home (FAH), the program has signed up almost 700,000 PS3's and uses the extra processing power of each system to try and undertake huge, complex problems and then feed it back to a central computer.

This particular project is trying extricate information about folding protein, which has been identified as being linked to diseases such as Alzheimer's, Huntindon's, BSE and Cancer.

So next time you get hassled by a parent or better half about rocking out a little too long on Guitar Hero, tell them to can it, you're wailin' to help Grandpa remember where he left his glasses.
